Just What I Needed

BigEdHouse.com, which launched as a Professional Development platform, is open for business, much like the Farmer’s Market I visited today.  

It was an unusually beautiful day.  My trip was filled with samples of spicy-sweet cookies, juicy mango drinks, savory biscuits and curry meat pies.  Experts lined the hallways offering home-made original creations.  The room was filled with choice!  I walked away today, feeling really good, and carrying just what I needed from a wide variety of experts who designed something they love – to share with me.  I went home really happy.

So I thought, this experience is really a metaphor that explains how I visualize my new venture with BigEdHouse.com.  By connecting education experts, with those who need them, the virtual market provides a way to connect experts who are the best in the education field – with the schools who need their work.

Hey there! Thanks so much for visiting BigEdHouse, aka, the scariest thing this lifelong educator has ever done. Ever. And I taught high school. And Junior High . . . I also taught that. But nothing compares to sinking all one’s meager savings into a website that you have no idea if anyone will subscribe to!

Anyway, enough about me. Okay, let’s talk about me some more, and you. Don’t worry, we’ll talk about you too.

I started working as an education consultant when people kept asking for my help. I didn’t know it was going to grow into a business where I made more than my “real” job, but I’m thrilled it has. Then I took an online course with my hero, and really, I think of her as one of my best friends (PS. She doesn’t know me, but I know her), Marie Forleo. If you want to take it, it’s right here.

During this course I realized that the thing I’m most passionate about is helping other people who have something of value to offer to the educational world get started offering it AND helping the educators who need that help locate those special people. That’s what BigEdHouse is. . . it helps educators find the experts they need and experts find the schools who need them.

I hope you like it. I hope it helps you find experts or get found. But if not, they say you should do something every day that scares you and this has scared the hell out of me for almost a year, so it was still a great idea, right?!?
